ABOUT CLAA:
Dear Alumni,
It gives us great pleasure to introduce ourselves to you, our Cornell Latino Community! Founded in 1994, the Cornell Latino Alumni Association was formed as a response to emerging independent Latino communities and their need for representation. CLAA hosts and participates in networking events, alumni panels (such as the MOSAIC Conference), community services (clothing drives, Cornell Cares, etc.), class reunion planning with the University, commencement celebration for recent graduates, graduate school and professional workshops for alumni and recruitment are among the activities the group conducts.
Our Commitment: The greatest commitment we have made to the university and community is our involvement in the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN), a group of nearly 6,900 alumni volunteers who assist the Cornell admissions department in recruiting superior undergraduate applicants. CLAA proudly participates in University Admissions information sessions, and in their respective constituencies.
The organization also raises funds for activities and philanthropic establishments (such as the NYC AIDS Walk, Relay for Life) by hosting co-sponsored events between itself and other organizations (Cornell affiliated or not). Through membership dues and donations we endeavor to collect funds that will be designated for the Undergraduate Book Scholarship Fund. Established in 2005 by the CLAA executive board, the scholarship serves as a means of supporting Latino students at Cornell.
Our Growth: Please see the section on our site titled “Membership in CLAA" for further information and SPREAD THE WORD! Your generosity will help endorse the organization to new audiences and will be highly valued and recognized
We are thrilled to announce that we currently have chapters of CLAA established in California, Chicago, and Washington, DC. So, for those of you that are interested in helping our these chapters, please let us know. If we do not currently have a CLAA chapter in your region and you are interested in getting involved, we would love to hear from you!
Sincerely yours,
